Introduction: Risk Board 2019-2020
Hi everyone! In this week's magazine article, we would like to introduce ourselves to all Risk Members. Last Tuesday, we officially started as the Risk Board 2019-2020. Even though we had the opportunity to meet some of you already, we will tell you some more about ourselves in this article. Please feel free to come by our office to have a chat or a coffee, and let's meet at one of the Risk Socials or Activities!
Victor Lubbers – Chairman
Hello everyone! My name is Victor Lubbers, I am 24 years old and I come originally from Deventer. After my high-school, I went to Australia for 6 months to play the sport that I love: cricket. When coming back, I started studying in Amsterdam, but after two years I moved to Groningen. Here I started studying Economics & Business Economics, which I have now almost finished. I spent a fair share of my Groningen time in the rowing boat at GSR Aegir. After rowing fanatically for two years, I decided to move on and got myself a taste of the working life within a Deals Internship at KPMG Amstelveen. While being at KPMG, I became interested in the chairman position at Risk. I experienced that life as a student is something to cherish, and I was also keen to explore what more the world has to offer next to cricket and rowing. After that, things all went very quick; on the 17th of December I was declared to become the chairman of the Risk Board 2019-2020!
The people at Risk have been incredibly nice for me and I felt at home straight-away.
In the following weeks, I had the pleasure to meet many new people and experience life as a board member, while walking in the footsteps of my predecessor, Annelien. The people at Risk have been incredibly nice for me and I felt at home straight-away. Although it has not been long ago since I got announced as the chairman, I already feel as if I have been around for a long time now.
My first job as a chairman was to find my fellow board members. A very pleasing job to do as I am very happy with the final result of our Risk Board 2019-2020! This year, we opted to elect a 6th board member, who will take on the vice-chairman position. I am extremely excited to spend this year with these 5 amazing and smart people around me. Feel free to say hello to us in our office with a cup of coffee and a chat. We would love to hear from you. See you soon!
Karlijn Niezing – Vice-Chairman
Hi everyone! My name is Karlijn and I am the new Vice-Chairman of the Risk Board 2019-2020. Currently I am studying the track Accountancy & Controlling of the bachelor Business Administration. Before I moved to Groningen, I have travelled through Australia and New-Zealand. This was an amazing time, full of great memories, but after almost a year I was looking forward to start my life in Groningen.
I really loved the fact that the board was really involved, that’s why I knew I wanted to join the next Risk Board.
When I was sure I was going to do the Accountancy & Controlling track, I met Risk for the first time. That is when I became an active member by joining the Risk Activity Committee as PR & Logistics. I instantly fell in love with Risk, because of all the great people I have met and because of all the fun activities I joined. I really loved the fact that the board was really involved, that’s why I knew I wanted to join the next Risk Board. Also, of course, because of the challenge and opportunities. I am really excited for the next year and I am looking forward to see what this year will bring me!
Demi Baks – Secretary
Hi, my name is Demi Baks. I am happy to announce that this year I will be the Secretary of the Risk Board 2019-2020. Last September, I started my master Finance and became active as a member of the Risk Finance Society. I learned more about the association, at which I felt welcome directly, and decided to also apply for the position of Catering & Logistics in the Conference Day Organization Committee.
All these experiences really sparked my enthusiasm for a board year at Risk!
Together with my nine other committee members, we organized the Risk Conference 2019, which many of you attended. I really enjoyed my time as an active member, during which I met a lot of new people and developed myself further. Also, all these experiences really sparked my enthusiasm for a board year at Risk!
After discussing my interest with previous board members over coffee, I was convinced and decided to apply for a board position. When we got announced, I was very excited that I would fulfill the role of Secretary this coming year. The past month, I already learned a lot and really got familiar with all the tasks I will be doing this year. I am looking forward to everything this year is going to bring and to experience this all together with my fellow board members and of course with all the Risk Members!
Bernhard Hoitink – Treasurer

As an active member, I started as PR & Promotions of the Risk Conference.

During this committee I became more excited about Risk and started wondering about a Board year at Risk. After some coffees with the previous board and the newly announced chairman Victor, I was determined to apply for the position of Treasurer. I was very glad to hear that I would be announced as the Treasurer of the Risk Board 2019-2020. The weeks after the announcement were great and I am looking forward to the upcoming year!
Chiel Bonnes – External Coordinator
Hi everyone, my name is Chiel Bonnes. I’m 21 years old and I am the new External Coordinator of the Risk Board 2019-2020. I’m currently in my Bachelor Business Administration studying the track Accountancy & Controlling. A year ago, I wanted to develop myself next to my studies. That’s why I applied for the Risk Conference Committee. This gave me a year to organize a huge event that took place on the 5th of March 2019.
The past month has been great and I am really looking forward to start my Risk Board year!

Lotte van de Worp – Internal Coordinator
Hi everyone, my name is Lotte and I will be the Internal Coordinator of the Risk Board 2019-2020. I am 20 years old and therefore the youngest of the board, for me this is a challenge and not a disadvantage at all. Currently, I am studying Business Administration and I am in the second year of the bachelor track Accountancy and Controlling. In my first year of my study, I had a lot of fun with my new friends here in Groningen. But in the second year I really wanted to challenge and develop
myself besides my study. That was the reason why I joined Risk!
As an Active Member of Risk, I met a lot of new people and it gave me a lot of experience.
Since October I am the PR and logistics at the Accountancy Tour 2019. As an Active Member of Risk, I met a lot of new people and it gave me a lot of experience. I applied for the Risk Board 2019-2020 not only because I want to develop myself on a professional level, but also because I always really like the ambiance at the Risk Activities. I am very enthusiastic about the board year, and really want to learn a lot this year. I am looking forward to an amazing year with my fellow board members and all the lovely members of Risk.
Together with all of you, we are sure the coming year will be a great (lustrum) year!
