Welcome Letter by the Chairman
Hello everyone!
My name is Victor and I am currently the chairman of Risk. Welcome to the Risk Magazine. This week, it is my pleasure to write an article for the Magazine. We hope you have had a pleasant summer and that you are looking forward to what the academic year is going to bring. We want to welcome you to the University, the Faculty, and of course to our study association!
Risk is the study association for the financially interested student. Risk organizes many formal and informal activities in the areas of Finance, Accountancy & Controlling, Management Accounting & Control and International Financial Management. And that is fun to do! This summer, we have been working together with many of our active Risk Members to prepare for upcoming academic year. And what a year it will be, as this is the year in which Risk will celebrate her 6th ‘Lustrum’. The Lustrum Committee will set up an exciting program during the Lustrum week, which will be from the 22nd of November till the 29th of November. A week full of fun activities in which (new) students and alumni will share memories with old friends and make new friends as well. Make sure you stay up to date with the latest Lustrum news!
This month though, we organize the Accountancy Week and the London Banking Tour. 3 days filled with company visits that give students a perfect and unique opportunity to experience life on the work floor. The application deadline for these two tours is Sunday the 15th of September at 23:59, so no time to waste if you want to sign up!
There is also opportunity for plenty of other career support. Risk offers all its members free access to the Career Guide. This Guide provides help to everything you need to know about career opportunities after your study. Next to the Career Guide, Risk offers Career Consults, in which students can get help finding an internship or starters function after their study. Our vice-chairman Karlijn is more than happy to discuss the possibilities with you in company of a nice cup of coffee. Last but not least, Risk organizes the Risk Career Day. The activities of this day range from professionalizing your LinkedIn profile, to writing a decent motivational letter, to performing during the actual interview. Altogether, Risk is the place for guidance in your career path!
We are also looking for new Active Members. Active Members are students who are part of a Risk Committee and organize for example a Risk Event. Spots in several committees (Dutch Banking Tour, Accountancy Day, Advisory Tour, Conference Day Organization, Magazine) are open and give you the opportunity to develop yourself next to your studies. In case you are interested, feel free to plan a coffee date so we can tell you more about it! You can contact us at board@riskgroningen.nl.
We from Risk wish you the best of luck with your studies and we hope to see you at our events. Besides that, you are always welcome at our office to grab a coffee with me or my fellow Board Members. Do not hesitate to step by at our room in the Study Associations area, at 5414.0040!
Last but not least, this Thursday the 12th of September, we organize our Beginning of the Year Party. The perfect way to start the academic year together with friends! The Party starts at 22:00 in ‘Gelkinge 9’, on the Gelkingestraat 9 and as always, the first beers are on us. We hope to see you there!
