Welcome Letter By The Chairman Hugo Groote Veldman
Dear reader,
I hope you had a fantastic summer and are ready to kick off a brand-new academic year here in Groningen! Whether you are new to Groningen or have been living here for a while already, the coming months will be packed with opportunities. Not only in the classroom, but also beyond.
At FSG, we’ve been working hard this summer to bring you an even more exciting year. We are organising many initiatives such as the Financial Consultancy Tour, a Private Equity Dinner and the Accountancy Tour Amsterdam! And of course, we’re starting the year with a bang:
Don’t Miss This: The FSG Beginning of the Year Party with unlimited free drinks on the 11th of September at ’t Vaatje! (Grote Markt 39-A, 9711 LV Groningen).
This party is the perfect chance to meet new people, connect with friends, and kick off the year in style.
From there, the energy keeps going with our career events:
- Accountancy Tour Amsterdam (Sept 22–23): Connect with leading firms and potential employers in accountancy. More information and sign up through this link.
- More interested in Finance? Then these are for you:
- Financial Consultancy Tour (Sept 29–Oct 1): Curious about a career in financial consultancy? Join us in the Randstad as we visit leading consultancy firms and work on real-life cases.
- FSG x CFA Society Netherlands (Oct 13): Want to know how the CFA designation can boost your finance career? Join us on October 13th, 17:00 at Feithhuis, Groningen for an evening of insights from both the classroom and the industry, featuring Asad Rauf and Yimin Qin, CFA. End the night with networking drinks and connect with fellow finance enthusiasts!
And that’s only the beginning; more inspiring events are just around the corner. Keep an eye on the website (www.fsgroningen.nl) or social media (@fsggroningen) to stay up to date.
Beyond attending, FSG offers you the opportunity to organise events yourself!! Join one of our committees, build valuable experience, and make friends along the way. Recruitment is open now, so grab a coffee with Willemijn (internalrelations@fsgroningen.nl) and find out how you can get involved.
Of course, we also know how important it is to succeed academically. That’s why we provide summaries to help you prepare for exams and stay on top of your courses. You can easily pick them up at our University Office throughout the year, which can be found at Zernike in the Duisenberg Building (Nettelbosje 2, 5414.0040).
I wish you an inspiring and successful year ahead, and I can’t wait to see you, whether it’ll be at our University Office for summaries, at a company visit, or over a cup of coffee.
Kind regards,
On behalf of the entire FSG Board 2025–2026,
Hugo Groote Veldman
Chairman, FSG Board 2025–2026
